Description

1 item (enclosed in a despatch dated 1 July 1699 from Colonel Francis Nicholson, accompanying the copy of the proposition, concerning trade with the Indians, dated at York Town 17 January 1698/9 from Colonel Cadwallader Jones) extracted from CO 5/1310. North America. Map of the 'Louisiana Pass', 'Discovered by Father Louis Hennepin of Hoilnalt & Dedicated to Wm. ye 3rd. King of England. 1698', showing the area from the southern extremities of Lakes Michgan, Huron and Erie to the mouth of the Potomac river. Scale not uniform, but apparently intended as 1 inch to 20 miles. Compass indicator.
