3 items extracted from CO 533/476/2. 3 maps relating to boundary disputes and negotiations in North-east Africa. (1) 'Secret' 'Map A' 'Map of South Eastern Sudan', showing an area south and west of Gambela (in Ethiopia) as being in the Sudan and an area north of the Kenya border as in Italian East Africa. The area shown is now in Sudan, Ethiopia and Kenya. Reference table. Scale: 1:1,000,000. 1938. (2) 'Secret' 'Map B' 'Military Map N.F.D [?Northern Frontier District].' GSGS 4050a. Map used in negotiations relating to the boundaries of Kenya, Ethiopia and Italian Somaliland. Reference table. Scale: 1: 1,000,000. Redrawn in 1938 by M Unwin Heathcote, Captain RA, and J A Powell, Lieutenant RE. Coloured MS additions show two areas in northern Kenya disputed with Sudan and Italian Somaliland. The area shown is now in Kenya, Sudan and Somalia. (3) 'Secret' 'Map C' 'British Somaliland'. Map of area between 42° and 50°E and between 6° and 12°N, showing proposed boundaries between Ethiopia, Italian Somaliland and British Somaliland and areas defined by agreements of 1894 and 1937. Reference table. Scale: 1:2,000,000. OR 599. War Office, 1931. The area covered is now in Somalia, and Ethiopia. Dimensions: (1) 71 cm x 34 cm; (2) 74 cm x 84 cm; (3) 45 cm x 58 cm.
