Description

1 item (originally enclosed in Governor Handasyd's letter of 9 February 1703) extracted from CO 139/9. Plan of the town of Kingston, Jamaica, showing streets and lots with owners' names, and identifying lots already built on. Scale: 1 inch to 160 feet. Compass rose. Approved for the Council by Thomas Nichols; for the assembly by Andrew Langley, Speaker; certified as a true copy by Thomas Nichols, Secretary; with the signature of the Governor, Thomas Handasyd. The map was originally bound in the volume next to a copy of 'An Act to Prevent the Resetling of Port Royall', which provided land for the inhabitants of Port Royal following its destruction.
