Description

5 items extracted from CO 54/448. 5 plans of hospitals in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). (1) 'General Civil Hospital, Colombo.' Plan showing male, female and special wards, dispensary and offices. Reference table to baths and latrines, covered passages, European patients' messroom and dead house. Scale: 1 inch to 80 feet. Compass indicator. (2) Plan showing three wards, a kitchen, surgery and verandah, probably part of a hospital at Ratnapura. Scale: 1 inch to 4 feet. Signed by W E Misso, MB, Assistant Colonial Surgeon. (3) 'Plan of the Floor of the Puttalam Hospital.' The plan shows wards, windows and doors in the civil and the smallpox hospitals. No scale shown. Cardinal points. (4) 'Ground Plan and Elevation of Government Hospitals and Buildings &c at Bogambra, Kandy, shewing the number of beds in the order in which they are placed in each room.' Reference table to buildings. Scale: 1 inch to 30 feet. Signed by Joseph Conbery MD, Assistant Colonial Surgeon. (5) Plan shewing position of Hospitals and Houses of the Medical Officer & Dispenser.' at Bogamra, Kandy. Scale: 1 inch to 3 chains. Compass indicator. Signed by Joseph Conbery MD, Assistant Colonial Surgeon. These items originally formed part of the Hospital Returns of Ceylon for the year 1868, enclosed with despatch number 176 of 23 December 1869. Dimensions: (1) 21 cm x 34 cm; (2) 21 cm x 34 cm; (3) 34 cm x 21 cm; (4) 25.5 cm x 37 cm; (5) 24 cm x 27 cm.
