Description

5 items (all originally accompanying a letter to 'His Excellency the Administrator') extracted from CO 107/1. 5 maps and sketches illustrating the boundaries of Griqualand West (now in Northern Cape Province, South Africa). (1) Map illustrating lines made by A Kok and N Waterboer in 1838 and by A Kok and Cornelis Kok in 1846. The map shows principal towns and rivers, borders, and highland areas. No scale shown.[By] Francis Orpen, Surveyor General. (2) Sketch map of Griqualand West and adjoining territory. The map bears a note detailing district divisions, towns, rivers, highland areas and the 'Vetberg Line'. Scale: 1 inch to 10 miles.
