3 items extracted from CO 48/496. South Africa, Natal: (1) 'Compass Sketch Plan of Fort Harrison, St. Johns River [now Umzimvubu River] and Surroundings'. Reference table. Scale: 1:10,560. Compass indicator. Copied by J Brotherton, Lieutenant RE, 6 November 1880. (2) 'Plan of St. Johns River Mouth' showing place names, mountains, forests, springs, and signal station. Scale: 1 inch to 400 Cape roods [about 1 mile]. Compass indicator. Copied by J Brotherton, Lieutenant RE, 6 November 1880. (3) 'Diagram of the Piece of Ground purchased from Umquiliso by the Cape [Colony] Government with a Sketch of the Country about the St. Johns River'. Scale: 1 inch to 200 Cape roods [about 2 inches to 1 mile].Compass indicator. Surveyed by F S Watermeyer, Government Surveyor. Lithographed by Saul Solomon & Co, Cape Town.
