1 item extracted from CO 48/383 (folio 440). 'Plan of a portion of the Kai 'Garip or Great Orange River extending from 'Eis to Pella Mission Station and forming the Northern frontier of the Colony [Cape Colony, now in South Africa] ...':. The map shows place names, routes, and notes on country. Distance table of wagon fords. Scale: 1 inch to about 9 geographical miles. Traced by A M Melvile, January 1857. 'Constructed from observations made during a journey from Little Namaqualand to Kuruman in October 1856'. 'Respectfully presented to the Colonial Government with a memoir by (signed) Rob. Moffat junr. Gov. Sur. & C.E. ...' The map has been damaged along old fold lines with some loss of detail.
