9 items extracted from CO 209/210. 9 sheets of maps and plans illustrating the New Zealand Wars. (1) Sketch map of Wairoa and Poverty Bay districts, Hawkes Bay and Auckland provinces. The map plots the sites of incidents in the 'Maori wars' [New Zealand wars]. MS, coloured. Scale: 2 inches to 5 miles. Compiled in the Napier Survey Office 17 November 1868. (2) Plan illustrating operations at Ngata Pa. MS. Scale: 1 inch to 20 chains. (3) 'Plan of Ngatapa Pa, Poverty Bay, taken by Col.. Whitmore with the Colonial Force from the Hau Hau under Tekooti ' The plan shows fortifications and dispositions of forces. Compass indicator. Lithographed, with MS coloured additions. Lithographed by J Buchanan. Printed at the Gen[eral] Gov[ernment] Lith[ographic] Press by J Earle. (4) Another copy of (3), without the MS colour. (5) and (6) Two copies of a sheet of 3 sections of Ngatapa Pa, Poverty Bay, taken by the Colonial Forces under Colonel Whitmore 5 January 1869. Scale: 1 inch to 1 chain. Lithographed by J Buchanan. Printed at the Gen[eral] Gov[ernment] Lith[ographic] Press by J Earle. (7) 'Map of the seat of war - West Coast New Zealand', showing parts of Wellington and Taranaki provinces. MS, coloured, on tracing cloth. Scale: 1 inch to 2 miles. (8) Taurangaika Pa on the west coast. Two sections AB and CD taken along lines indicated in (9), plus enlarged section of palisade and trench. Scale: (main sections)1 inch to 45 feet; (palisade and trench) 1 inch to about 3 feet. Surveyed and lithographed by J Buchanan. Printed at the Gen[eral] Gov[ernment] Lith[ographic] Press by J Earle. (9) 'Plan of Taurangaike Pa, West Coast, abandoned by Titokowaru when attacked by the Colonial Force under Col. Whitmore Feb 3 1869.' Scale: 1 inch to 45 feet.
