3 items (originally enclosures to despatch number 37 of 6 April 1863) extracted from CO 209/172. 3 maps of New Plymouth, New Zealand. (1) Sketch map of the township of New Plymouth, of unsurveyed native land, and of lands in the Orey block, the Omata block and the Tataraimaka block. The map shows the lines of roads in the course of construction and military positions. Scale: 1 inch to 40 chains. Compass indicator. [By] H S Bates, 65th regiment. (2) Sketch map showing Te Whanga, Kuikui and Wherohia, all destroyed in March 1860 and Nuriapa. No scale shown. (3) Plan of Te Pekepeka block Scale: 1 inch to 10 chains. Survey commenced 13 March 1860, completed September 1860. Signed by [?J A] Carrington. Dimensions: (1) 50.8 cm x 76.2 cm; (2) 10.2 cm x 11.4 cm; (3) 38.1 cm x 50.8 cm.
