3 items (enclosures to despatches as detailed below) extracted from CO 96/397. Gold Coast (now Ghana): (1) 'Cape Coast Castle. Plan of proposed boundaries'. The map also shows roads, houses, forts, cemeteries. An area to the west of the lagoon is numbered I; to the east are areas numbered II to V. Scale: 6 inches to 1 mile. Compass indicator. A M Anderson, Director of Works, 21 June 1902. MS additions. Lithographed, coloured. Sub-enclosure 2 to enclosure in Gold Coast despatch number 271 of 21 June 1902. (2) 'Plan of Cape Coast Town By W T G Lawson, C.E.M.S.A. ...'. Detailed town plan: boundaries and divisions. Compass star. Scale: 1 inch to 200 feet. Dedicated to Sir Garnet J Wolseley, CB, KCMG, Major General commanding the Ashanti expedition, 1873-74. 21 February 1874. Printed, coloured. Waterlow & Sons Ltd. Sub-enclosure 1 to enclosure in Gold Coast despatch number 271 of 21 June 1902. (3) Map of area between the coast from Axim to Newtown, and the rivers Tano and Wini, showing the Apollonia and Sentumaka concessions. MS reference table (headed 'Appolonia') to territorial claims and disputed territory. Scale: 1 inch to about 4 miles. Dyeline print with coloured ms additions. Signed by T E Fell, Commissioner, 1 July 1902. Sub-enclosure 3 to enclosure 2 to Gold Coast despatch number 294 of 8 July 1902. Dimensions: (1) 43 cm x 62 cm; (2) 68 cm x 98 cm; (3) 38 cm x 51 cm.
