Description

1 item (enclosure to Sir James Kempt's despatch of 1 April 1829) extracted from CO 42/223. Ontario. 'Plan of the Line of the Rideau Canal. Lt. Col. By, C.R.E.', with a section signed by [Lt Col John] By, 5 February 1829. The plan shows place names, roads and rivers. Estimates table for the 23 locks. Scales: plan, 1 inch to 4 miles; section, 1 inch to 8 miles (horizontal), 1 inch to 50 feet (vertical). Probably by John Burrows, overseer of works, whose name appears below the scale.
