Description

2 items (enclosures to General Clarke's despatches number 76 and 75, July and June 1793 respectively) extracted from CO 42/94. Quebec. (1) Diagram showing proposed township areas, with some encroaching on the height of land between Quebec and New Hampshire and Vermont.. The diagram shows the townships of Woburn, Croydon, Stanhope, Emberton, Auckland, Drayton, Hereford and Clifton. Scale: 1 inch to 2 miles. Compass indicator. Signed by Samuel Holland, surveyor general, 16 June 1793. (2) Diagram showing proposed township areas, with some encroaching on the height of land between Quebec and New Hampshire and Vermont, with notes on the boundary and the course of the Connecticut River. The diagram shows the townships of Woburn, Croydon, Emberton, Auckland, Drayton, Hereford, Clifton, Barford, Compton, Barnston, Hatley and Stansted, with a space for the township named on (1) as Stanhope. Scale: 1 inch to 4 miles. Copy of an original signed by Hugh Finlay, chairman of the Land Committee 16 March 1793. Dimensions of sheets: (1) 50.5 cm x 62.5 cm; (2) 26.5 cm x 37 cm
