1 item (enclosure to Governor Sir H Moore's letter of 22 February 1767) extracted from CO 5/1098 (folio 433). New York. 'A Chart of Lake Champlain Exhibiting... the Claims of the French... and the Grants made to the English reduc'd Officers and disbanded Soldiers ...' The map shows place names and boundaries of French claims and English grants. Title on a rock face surrounded by drawings of animals (lion, wolf, wading bird, squirrel etc.) and a bird, with a camp, stream and woodland in the distance. Table of French seigniors and acreage claimed. In the bottom right-hand corner is a coloured drawing of a woman seated, holding a small child, while an older child stands by a small tree. The trunk is marked in divisions corresponding to the scale of 4 miles to an inch. Scale: 1 inch to 4 miles. Compass star. Drawn by Simon Metcalfe.
