Description

1 item (enclosure to Lieutenant Campbell's despatch of August 1816) extracted from CO 2/5. The Gambia. 'Sketch of St. Mary's Island, River Gambia'. With notes on distances, tides, winds, direction and temperature. Scale: 1 inch to about 530 yards. Compass indicator. Thomas Campbell, Lt Royal Staff Corps and Captain, Senegal, Aug 1816. Endorsed with a note on the possession of the Island, the custom paid for it to the King of Combo, and the buildings erected on it.
