3 items extracted from CO 42/172 (numbers 40A and 40B). Upper Canada. (1) 'Abstract of Lieutenant Vidal's Journal ... 23 d to 30 th July 1815.' (18 folios); (2) 'Kettle Creek an eye sketch'. With remarks on the country. Scale: 1 inch to about 352 feet. Compass indicator. By Alexander T E Vidal. (3) Big Otter Creek. 'Otter River an Eye Sketch whilst rowing up it'. With remarks on Otter River and its use as a shelter for gunboats, and a list of settlers. Scale: 1 inch to about 440 yards. Compass indicator. By A T E Vidal and W F W Owen. Copied by E E Vidal. Dimensions of sheets: (2) 30.5 cm x 20.1 cm; (3) 36.6 cm x 28.4 cm.
