2 items extracted from FO 17/491. China. (1) 'Sketch of "Pratas" Island [now Dongsha Island] shewing proposed sites for a Light-house': MS, coloured, sketch map, on tracing cloth. Scale: 1 inch to 0.3 miles. Compass indicator. Signed: W G Romaine, 2nd Secretary to the Admiralty. (2) Admiralty Chart 362: 'China Sea. Prata Reef and Island': engraved map. Reference notes to navigational hazards. Scale: 1 inch to 1.1 sea miles. Compass rose. Engraved by J and C Walker; published by the Admiralty, 7 April 1865. Additions by C Bullock, 1866. Dimensions: (1) 24 cm x 35 cm; (2) 48 cm x 62 cm). Both items originally part of an Admiralty report on the proposed siting of the lighthouse on Pratas Island, 19 November 1865.
