Description

1 item (to illustrate a report by H R Wallis, Vice-Consul, on Major Spilsbury's expedition to Fort Johnston, 9 November 1900) extracted from FO 2/309. 'The Territories of the Nyassa Company - sketch map compiled from all available sources': showing areas of south-eastern Africa to the eastern side of Lake Nyasa (now also Lake Malawi); marked are a proposed railway and road from Porto Amelia (now Pemba, Mozambique) to Lake Nyasa; rivers, lakes, contours and boundaries. Drawn by Lieutenant Commander E L Rhoades, Royal Navy.
