2 items (enclosures to statement and application of the Dent and Overbeck Concession in Borneo, 2 December 1878) extracted from FO 12/53. (1) 2 maps on one sheet. (a) Shows the seaways of the eastern hemisphere used by the Peninsular and Oriental Steamship Company with the position of Borneo marked in colour. (b) 'A Map of Borneo. Traced from English and Dutch Charts 1878': showing territory granted by the Sultans of Brunei and Sulu, with Dutch Borneo, Sarawak and the Celebes; (the area shown is now in Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia). Reference table. (2) 'A Chart of North Borneo Traced from the English Admiralty Chart 1878': showing territory granted by Sultans of Brunei and Sulu, with part of Sarawak and Dutch Borneo; place names and rivers marked. Scale: 1 inch to 25 miles. Both items lithographed by Stanfords Geographical Establishment. Dimensions (1) sheet size 38.5 cm x 56 cm: (2) 52.5 cm x 64 cm.
