Description

1 item (originally filed with the correspondence of 1855 between Lord Stratford de Redcliffe and Field Marshal Lord Raglan) extracted from FO 352/42A. Russia: Crimea (the area shown is now in Ukraine). 'Plan of the Heights and Bay of Alma from Spitfires Survey': disposition of forces on land and sea. Scale: 2.9 inches to 1 mile. Compass indicator. Above the plan is a sepia-tinted panorama entitled 'Battle of Alma. Sept. 20th 1854', by E W Brooker, Royal Navy. Lithographed by Day & Son; published by Paul & Dominic Colnaghi & Co, London, 2 November 1854.
