1 item extracted from FO 37/257. Map of central Europe from the Maas to the Memel and from the Baltic to the northern Adriatic, showing the area covered by the states of the Customs Union, Holland, Luxembourg, Hanover, Oldenburg and Mecklenburg. Major rivers named. No scale shown. Drawn by James Wyld, Geographer to the Queen, Charing Cross East, London.
Between 1840 and 1861, Wyld's imprint was 'Geographer to the Queen and H.R.H. Prince Albert'. Oldenburg and Hanover joined the Customs Union in 1853. It is therefore probable that this map was made between 1837 and 1840. No information about its origins could be discovered from the records of the Foreign Office.
