Description

1 item (enclosure in despatch no 76 (Slave Trade) of 3 November 1882) extracted from FO 48/37. 'Map of the North of Madagascar, showing the boundaries of the territory ceded by the Sakalavas to France'. The map distinguishes Hova forts and shows the date when each was established. The coastal regions from Cap d'Ambre to about 16°S are divided into areas identified as Fatouma, ancient territory of Tsihomekou and of Andriansouly; Sakalavas; Binao; Mounza and Tsimiharo. Reference table. Scale: 1 inch to about 13 miles.
