1 item extracted from FO 20/3 (papers describing Corsica and its institutions, and which were presumably acquired after Corsica came under British administration in 1794). Corsica. 'Carte de L'Isle de Corse tirée sur les lieux par ordre de M r Marêchal de Maillebois': map illustrating the principal events in the uprising of 1739. Scale: 11.7 cm to 5 'lieues de 2739 pas géometriques'. Key to stages of the campaign. Engraved by J Ellis. The Marquis de Maillebois was created Marshal on 11 February 1741; as Lieutenant General he was, in 1739, in command of troops which suppressed the nationalist movement in Corsica.
