Vay jusqu'au Cap Carteret ...'. Compass indicators and rhumb lines. Based on surveys made in 1777 by Lt La Couldre-La Bretonnière and [P F A] Mechain, naval hydrographer. Published by the Dépôt des Cartes et Plans de la Marine, 1792. Coloured MS additions show a two-league limit of British and French territorial waters proposed to be reserved for fishing exclusively by their own nationals. These MS additions are described in letter of 14 September 1819 from the French Minister of Marine to the French Foreign Office, a copy of which was sent with the maps to the British Foreign Office by Count G de Caraman, 12 June 1820. Dimensions of sheets: (1) 86 cm x 58 cm; (2) 58cm x 86cm.
