1899
'The Territories of the Nyassa Company. Constituted by Royal Charter. Sketch map compiled from all available sources'. Map showing rivers, high land, notes on topography, place names, boundaries; and proposed railway from Pemba Bay to Lake Nyassa. Scale: 6.7 inches to 80 miles. Printed by E Stanford, London, August 1899. Coloured MS additions show the route of an expedition between Fort Maguire and Quissanga, place names and topographical information.
This map was found loose in the PRO in 1949 and was presumed at that time to have become detached from Sir Hugh MacDonell's despatch of 12 October 1899 in FO 2/667. The map actually enclosed with that despatch is now MPK 1/488. The true original provenance of MPK 1/96 is unknown.
