1 item (enclosure to Consular despatch no 6 of 16 November 1858) extracted from FO 63/844. Map of south-east Africa from the Equator to the Cape of Good Hope: apparently the south-east sheet of a map in four parts. Scale: 1 inch to about 80 miles. Published by Samuel Arrowsmith, 10 Soho Square, London. MS additions show territory possessed by the Portuguese between Cape Delgado and Delagoa Bay, the Kingdom of Angoza, and the place on the King George River where the Herald was seized by the Portuguese. The MS additions were made by J Lyons McLeod, British Consul in Mozambique: a note in his hand explains them. He has underlined the word 'possessed' in referring to Portuguese territory; the MS additions showing this possession are confined to coastal or river towns.
