Description (What the record is about)

12 items (enclosures to despatch of 19 August 1913 from W B Heard, Sofia) extracted from FO 371/1840. Three ethnographical maps, each in four sheets, of vilayets in the Balkan Peninsula. Drawn and lithographed at the Cartographic Institute, Sofia, 1901. According to Heard, the maps were compiled by Shopoff, former Bulgarian commercial agent at Salonika and 'a comparatively reliable authority on Macedonian affairs'. FO 371/1840 contains a printed key to each map.
The piece which formerly bore map reference MPK 56 (extracts from FO 302/28) was transferred to MPK 1/188, MPK 1/189C and MR 1/1777
