(1) 'Projected Inland Sea': map of area between Biscara and the Gulf of Gabes, showing the Shatt Rhasa, Shatt El Djerid and Mel Rir Sellem; Algeria-Tunis boundary (modern area of Algeria and Tunisia around the Chott el Rharsa, the Chott Djerid, the Chott Melrhir, and the river El Hamma north of Gabes). (2) 'Map of the Island of Gerba' (now Djerba, Tunisia), also showing the adjacent mainland. (3) 'Map of the Regency of Tunis and Algiers'. Drawn by Richard Wood to illustrate 'Notes on the projected Inland Sea in Africa', enclosed in his despatch no 53 of 9 November 1874 from Tunis.
