2 items extracted from FO 17/1560. Korea. 2 sketch maps. (1) 'Rough plan of Japanese settlement at Masampo [now Masan, South Korea] showing ownership of land': also showing roads and waterways. Key to nationalities of landowners; reference table to areas of portions of land. Scale: 1 inch to 50 metres. Inset: small-scale map showing the position of the settlement in relation to other settlements. (2) 'Northern Corea showing overland trade route from Song-Chin': showing the coast, towns, roads, railways, rivers and frontiers; place names in Korean and English transliteration; also showing part of Manchuria. Compass indicator. Dimensions: (1) 72.1 cm x 104.6 cm; (2) 31.2 cm x 21.1 cm. Originally enclosed in despatches from Mr J N Jordan, Seoul: (1) number 63, 4 June 1902; (2) number 70, 27 June, 1902.
