7 items extracted from FO 371/1795. Middle East: Persian Gulf. (1) 'Map of the Kuwait Hinterland', showing towns, villages, camel road, telegraph lines, contours. Reference table. Scale: 1:337,920. Compiled from reconnaissance sketches made by Major S G Knox and Captain W H I Shakespear, political agents Kuwait, 1908 and 1910; lithographed by Harrison and Sons. (2)-(3) and (7) 'Map to show the limits of Koweit [Kuweit] and adjacent country': 3 copies, showing towns, villages, roads, telegraph lines, rivers etc. Scale: 1 inch to 48 miles. Lithographed by Harrison and Sons. Different overprinting, coloured, to each item; an explanation of the overprinting may remain with the parent document. (7) is marked: 'Annex V'. (4)-(6) Copies of (1). Scale: 1:506,880. Heliozincographed at the Survey of India Offices. MS additions, coloured, showing villages and wells; MS corrections on small sheets affixed over the face of the map. Dimensions: (1) 60 cm x 48 cm; (2)-(3) and (7) each 46 cm x 33 cm; (4)-(6) each 88 cm x 62.5 cm. Item 1 originally accompanied a printed copy of enclosure number 1 in Lieutenant-Colonel Sir P Cox's [despatch] number 1 to the Government of India, 4 August 1912.
