Description

4 items (in 5 sheets) extracted from CP 43/853 rot 73. Lincolnshire: Althorpe. (1) Sealed copy of a Certificate of Redemption of Corn Rents relating to lands in Althorpe dated 15 February 1951; (2)-(3) Sealed copy dated 27 October 1950 of a confirmed Altered Apportionment of Corn Rents in Althorpe; (4) Plan to accompany Enclosure Award of 28 May 1796 pursuant to Act 34 Geo III, c xcii. Scale: 1 inch to 7 chains. Compass indicator. Surveyed by Thomas Bainbridge 33.5 cm x 60 cm; (5) Plan referred to in the Altered Apportionment of Corn Rents above mentioned. Scale 1: 2500. 24.5 cm x 32.5 cm.

Arrangement

The altered apportionment and its accompanying map were transferred to the Public Record Office by the Tithe Redemption Commissioners in 1950 and seem to have been sewn immediately into the portfolio under the reference MPL 53 to accompany the original enclosure map which had at the same time been extracted from CP 43/853. The wording on the extract sheet in CP 43/853 makes it clear that they should have been kept with the enrolment of the Enclosure Award on CP 43/853. It was presumably considered impractical to sew them into this document and an extract sheet was sewn in instead, giving details of the enclosure map, the altered apportionment and its accompanying map, the information that they should be kept with the enrolment and the reference under which they could be found. Subsequently, the certificate of redemption of corn rents (dated 1951) was sewn into the portfolio in front of the apportionment and map
