Description

1 item, numbered (6), (originally enclosed with a letter from T H Farmer, Board of Trade, 23 December 1871) extracted from FO 27/2214. Kent: Dover. Plan of parts of the parishes of St James and St Mary the Virgin, showing the harbour works required for a proposed ferry service across the English Channel; also showing the Lord Warden Hotel, the tidal harbour, the tide levels, the North, South and Admiralty piers, and a proposed new pier and jetties. Scale: 1 inch to about 90 feet. Compass indicator. Farmer's letter gave the Board of Trade's opinions on the viability of various proposed new cross-channel routes.
