The Inquiry was set up by the Home Secretary, Sir Frank Soskice, in 1965 to examine the case of Timothy Evans, accused of murdering his wife and daughter, later convicted of murdering his daughter and hanged in 1950. The Inquiry, chaired by Hon Sir Daniel Brabin, was held in public at the Royal Court of Justice. The main hearings were held between 22 November 1965 and 21 January 1966; two sessions were private, though a transcript survives for only one of these. The report of the Inquiry (Cmnd 3101) was presented to Parliament in October 1966.
