Description

This series consists of the records of the United Kingdom and British Commonwealth Delegation of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRAA). The series contains the minutes of meeting and papers of the Delegations, together with papers of the UNRAA Council and minutes and memoranda of its various committees and sub-committees. The reception papers and council documents are papers from sessions of the Council, given numbers in chronological order of receipt.

Administrative / biographical background

The United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration was set up on 9 November 1943 to organise measures of relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction during and immediately after the Second World War. Originally forty four nations were members. UNRAA distributed relief supplies, and provided relief services to assist economic and agricultural rehabilitation. It also provided camps, personnel and food for displaced persons.
