Description

Enclosure award and map of Great Amwell (parish), Hertfordshire. Includes Crane Mead and Amwell Marsh. Map on two sheets. Map A covers the enclosed area only (82 acres) and shows the land before and after enclosure. Also shows named canal (with locks), woods, named commons, fences or walls, footpaths or bridleways, stopped-up paths, houses and uninhabited buildings (distinguished by colour), named railway, field boundary ownership, some named landowners. Scale: 1 inch to 2 chains. Construction lines shown. By Crawter and Death, Surveyors, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire and Enfield, Middlesex, 1863. Map certified for accuracy. Map B covers the enclosed area only (50 acres) and shows the land after enclosure. Also shows lakes or ponds, named river, houses and uninhabited buildings (distinguished by colour), church (coloured), some named buildings, named railway (with station). Scale: 1 inch to 6 chains. By Crawter and Death, Surveyors, Cheshunt and Enfield, [1868]. Valuer: James Death, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, Land Surveyor. Dimensions of maps: Map A) 75 cm x 176 cm, Map B) 66 cm x 94 cm
