The Air Committee was established in 1912 as a principal standing committee of the Committee of Imperial Defence. Its members included the Secretary of State for War, the Director of Military Training, the Director of the Air Department and representatives of the Royal Flying Corps and the Treasury. Its function was to consider all aerial matters referred to it by the Committee of Imperial Defence, or by government departments.
