'Pacific Ocean in Four Sheets...': the south-western sheet of the map only, comprising a chart of the area between New Guinea, the Phoenix Islands (now part of Kiribati), the North Island of New Zealand, and Cape Howe in New South Wales, Australia); showing soundings in fathoms. Reference notes. Scale: 1 inch to about 90 nautical miles. Compass roses. Compiled in 1875 from various surveys; drawn by H C Carrington, Hydrographic Office; engraved by Davies and Co; published by the Admiralty, 31 March 1875; corrected to June 1881; magnetic variation to 1884; minor corrections to March 1887. Coloured manuscript additions show the boundary of the Kingdom of Tonga according to a proclamation defining its limits, 11 June 1887.
