'Italy; With the Islands of Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica: By Mr D'Anville ... Engraved from the Original, Publish'd at Paris at ye Expence of The Duke of Orleans ... By R W Seale'. Map showing boundaries, towns, castles, religious houses, sees. Reference table. Scale: 3 inches to 70 miles; numerous scale bars. Cartouche ornamented with allegorical scences and symbols of papacy, Mark the Evangelist, the Roman Republic, Time, putti. Printed for Robert Wilkinson, Robert Sayer and Carrington Bowles. A pencilled note in the cartouche suggests the date 1790, but Seale died in 1785. A printed note says, 'The Author accounts for the Construction of this Map in a Work intitled A Geographical Analysis of Italy'.
