Description

'England and Scotland' by Robert Morden. Factice atlas of maps of the British Isles and counties, with a portrait of William Camden Clarenceux, 1623, as frontispiece. Sold by Abel Swayle Awnsham and John Churchill, [London]. A handwritten alphabetical index to the plates is at the front of the volume. A note on the front page reads 'These maps etc. belong to an edition of Camden's Britannia later than that of 1695'. The Foreign Office's librarians had provisionally dated the maps to 1714 or 1715. Detailed descriptions are given at item level.
