Geographical map showing roads, towns, monasteries, landed estates, houses, mills, in area between Winschoten, Oldenburg, Dümmer See and Lingen. Dedicated by the publisher to Maximilian Franz, Archbishop of Cologne. Scale: 1 inch to 9 miles (13 cm to 2 Meile; this Meil, when computed from degrees latitude, appears to be equivalent to about 5.8 statute miles, which is notably longer than the standard German Meil or any common regional variation). Reference table. Compass indicator. Drawn and produced by C Wilckens, 1796. Engraved by J F Salzenberg, Hanover. According to the FO 925 index the publisher was Simon Schropp: this information has been obliterated on the map. Original reference FO 925/3719B (indicating a Foreign Office bound volume).
