Italy: 'Plan of the City and Harbour of Messina, By Captain W H Smyth, Royal Navy. ...'. Scale: 1 inch to 210 yards. Compass lines. Reference table. Engraved by J Walker. Published at the Hydrographic Office, Admiralty, 19 July 1823. Plate 17 of The Hydrography of Sicily, Malta and the Adjacent Islands'. The chart was subsequently issued as Admiralty chart 178; in this form, lighthouses were added and compass lines replaced by compass roses.
