Description

Bound factice atlas comprising seven maps by the Austrian General Staff, folded. Scale: 5.2 inches to 5 Austrian miles. Dimensions: (1) 64.5 cm x 58.5 cm; (2) 52.5 cm x 38 cm; (3) 49 cm x 83.5 cm; (4) 75 cm x 47 cm; (5) 42 cm x 42 cm; (6) 56 cm x 44.5 cm; (7) 64 cm x 58.5 cm. The FO 925 index attributes to them the dates 1831-1846.

Map 1. Austria, Germany, Italy: 'General Carte von Salzburg ...'. Map showing terrain, minerals, towns, fortresses, boundaries, roads. Reference table. Engraved by Andreas Withalm. Based on a 'Special Carte' of same territories in the Austrian Quarter Master General's Department.

Map 2. Area now in Czech Republic: 'General-Karte der Markgrafschaft Mähren mit den Antheilen des Herzogthums Schlesien ...'.Map showing area east of Prague, on four sheets. Reference tables to political divisions and to cities, towns, roads, railways, mines, boundaries, terrain. Calligraphy by J Kiss. Engraved by J Wöber and J David. Reduced in Vienna, 1846, from a 'Specialkarte' in the Military Geographical Institute.

Map showing terrain, minerals, towns, boundaries, roads. Reference table. Table of districts. Drawn and engraved by C Stein. Reduced in Milan, 1831, from a 'Special-karte' in the Austrian Quarter Master General's Department.

Map showing rivers, ports, districts, cities, towns, railways, boundaries. Reference table. Table of political divisions. Reduced to a scale of 1: 288,000 from a topographical map in the Military Geographical Institute of the Austrian Quarter Master General's Department, Milan, 1838: FO 925/3621 appears to be a copy of this topographical map, which shows the same area at a scale of 1:86,400.
