Ukraine: Sevastopol. Two maps: (1) Plan of Sebastopol. Plan shows contours, roads, harbour, fortifications. Scale: 3.4 inches to 1,100 metres. Compass indicator. (2) Plan showing Russian, French and English defence works. Reference table. Scale: 2.4 inches to 1,000 metres. Signde by Lieutenant Colonel T B Jervis, Director, Topographical and Statistical Depôt, War Department. Both traced at the Dépôt de la Guerre from plans found on a Russian prisoner of war, 1855, brought back by Colonel de Waubert, and forwarded by him to the French Minister of War on 25 September 1855. The tracings were sent to Lieutenant Colonel Jervis by order of [Jean-Baptiste Philibert, Comte] Vaillant, French Minister of War. (2) was subsequently lithographed. Dimensions: (1) 43 cm x 63 cm; (2) 46 cm x 64 cm.
