Description

Ukraine: Alma: 'Battle of the Alma, 20th Septr. [September] 1854'. Plan of the heights, river, and bay of Alma. Reference table to troop dispositions. Scale: 2.75 inches to 1 mile. Compass indicator. Incorporating sketches made on the ground by Captain A E Harding, Coldstream Guards, Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General, Colonel F W Hamilton, Grenadier Guards, Colonel Sir Charles Hamilton, Scots Fusilier Guards, Major J M Adye, Royal Artillery, Major A Irving, Royal Artillery, Captain S E Gordon, Royal Artillery, and Lieutenant [?C G or E C A] Gordon, Royal Engineers. Surveyed by the Officers of HMSV Spitfire under the direction of Captain Spratt, Royal Navy, 23 September 1854. Published by John Arrowsmith, London, 20 November 1854.
