Two designs for the proposed consulate buildings at Alexandria, Egypt: each set in a bound volume of plans, sections and elevations, with estimates and other documents. Scale of block plan: 1 inch to 22 feet; remainder: 1 inch to 8 feet. By Thomas L Donaldson, Architect,Bolton Gardens, Russell Square, London. Both signed by Donaldson (1) February and April 1861; (2) 29 May 1862.
Volume 1. 'Proposed Consulate Alexandria'. General block plan, principal elevation facing the Grand Square, flank elevation, longitudinal section, transverse section, ground, first and second floor plans. One sheet contains a block and ground plan of the French consulate and a plan of the residence of the English Postmaster. Bound with the plans is an estimate for building the consulate, signed by Donaldson and W R Gritten. Dimensions of block plan: 39 cm x 27 cm; remainder each 43 cm x 60 cm.
Volume 2. 'Proposed Consular Buildings Alexandria'. View of the consulate next to the English church; front and side elevations; transverse and longitudinal sections; ground, first and second floor plans, block plan. The view and the two elevations are watercolour impressions, the last two to scale. Dimensions: block plan: 49 cm x 62 cm; view: 25 cm x 43 cm; remaining seven sheets: 43 cm x 59 cm.
