'Map of the United States of America'. Scale: 1 inch to about 200 miles. Key to symbols. Published by Edward Stanford, 1861. Additions illustrate the secession of the Confederate states. Fortified points in the 'slave states' are underlined in red; fractions show the proportion of slaves in each state. Tables of population for 1850 and 1860 from the London Review, and a plan of the defences of Charleston are pasted on to the map.
