'St John, River'. Scale: 12 inches to 1 mile. British Boundary Commission's copy of the survey to apportion the islands in the River St John, carried out under the terms of the Treaty of Washington, 9 August 1842. Bound volume, made 13 October 1843, containing twenty manuscript plans, prefaced by a list of islands with the countries to which each had been assigned. A red line drawn through the deepest soundings marked the boundary. Each map signed by Lieutenant Albert Smith and Colonel I B Bucknall Estcourt, United States and British Commissioners, and by 1st Lieutenant Thomas J Lee, Topographical Engineers and Captain W E Delves-Broughton, Royal Engineers. Longfellow and Featherstonhaugh, surveyors. Manuscript note at the beginning of volume: 'In Col. Estcourt's number. 48 31 Jany. 48'. For particulars see 38358 (F15494/1908)
