Area now in Guyana: map with two printed sheets and a manuscript copy of the inset: (4) map of the colony of Essequibo and Demerara. 'Carte Generale et Particulière de la Colonie d'Essequebe et Demerarie Située dans la Guiane en Amerique ...'. Dedicated 'au Comité des Colonies et Possessions de la Republique Batave en Amerique et a la Cote de Guinée par le Major F von Bouchenroeder 1798'. Title within a round arch flanked by tropical trees, at the base shells. The map shows numbered plots, the crops distinguished by their colours, and extends from the Rivière Moroco to the boundary of Berbice. Scale: about 1 inch to 1300 verges. Compass star. Soundings. An inset, about 1 inch to 6.5 German miles, shows the country from the 'Embouchure de la Rivière d'Oronoque' to the Rivière Berbice. Engraved by J Turpin à la Haye 'à Amsterdam chez Wouter Brave'. (3) Two printed sheets contain references to habitations, proprietors. (1) A manuscript copy of the inset on (4), dedicated by D J Smith, Acting Crown Surveyor, to His Excellency Henry Barkly, Esq, Governor and Commander in Chief, British Guiana, August 1850.
