Area now in Guyana. 'Map of British Guiana compiled from the surveys executed under Her Majesty's Commission from 1841 to 1844 and under the direction of The Royal Geographical Society from 1835 to 1839'. Showing sea, rivers and boundaries in colour. Scale, given as 1 inch to about 7 miles, should be 1 inch to about 10 miles. By Sir Robert H Schomburgk, KRE, PhD. Revised and corrected by Cathcart Chalmers Esq, Crown Surveyor of the Colony and James Gay Sawkins Esq, Director of the Geological Survey of the West Indies and British Guiana. With additions by Charles B Brown, Esq. Engraved under the superintendence of William Walker, Esq in 1875. Two sheets. A manuscript note made at the Foreign Office 16 June 1886, explains that this was a confidential copy intended only for the private use of HM Legation, Caracas, since the north-western portion of the boundary had been inaccurately drawn. Pencilled lines indicate the plotting of a boundary which bears little resemblance to any official line proposed between these dates.
