Nicaragua. Tracing on linen, 29 June 1893. 'Map of the Mosquito Reservation, Nicaragua, Central America Showing the position on certain rivers of the meridian of 84 15' Longitude West from Greenwich as defined by the Commissioners appointed by His Excellency Robert Henry Clarence Chief of the Mosquito Indians and the Government for the Mosquito Reservation and settlements, mines, mahogany works and sawmills'. Scale: 3 inches to about 7 miles. Compass roses. Signed by the Chief and the Commissioners, 29 September 1892, and sent with Clarence's letter of 23 November 1892. Surveyed by Arthur Newstead, Mosquito Government Surveyor. A note signed by Edward D Hutch, Acting British Vice Consul at Bluefields on 11 May 1894, states that the line 84 15' was confirmed at the city of Rama by HMS Cleopatra in March 1894.
