Description

United States of America: New Hampshire: Connecticut River. 'Sketch of the Territory in dispute between Great Britain and the United States, lying on the Connecticut River'. Plan number 1 used to illustrate report of March 1838 on the boundary dispute, presented to the Government of New Brunswick. Shows the existing boundary with Canada, following the Connecticut River and to the north, an 'imaginary line claimed by New Hampshire', roughly equivalent to its present northern boundary. Scale: 4 inches to 11 miles. Signed by John Wilkinson, Deputy Surveyor of New Brunswick, October 1838. 'Drawn in Lithography by L. Hebert and Printed at the Lithographic Establishment, Quarter Master General's Office, Horse Guards; February 1839'.
